NVSL
Walden Glen competes in the Northern Virginia Swimming League (NVSL).The NVSL was founded in 1956 to sponsor competitive swimming and diving in and among the community swimming pools in the Northern Virginia area contiguous to the District of Columbia and to develop in the children participating in this program – a love for the sport, advanced aquatic skills, teamwork, and the principles of good sportsmanship.
The NVSL includes over 100 teams in the Northern Virginia area competing in 17 six-team divisions. The teams are seeded by overall “speed” rather than by size or location, with the fastest teams in Division 1 and the slowest in Division 17. The League reseeds the teams each year to make each division as competitive as possible. We will swim the other five teams in our Division on five consecutive Saturdays. These Saturday morning meets are scored and arw referred to as “A Meets.” Find more information about the NVSL at mynvsl.com.
Springfield-Burke Developmental League
Walden Glen is also a member of the Springfield-Burke Developmental League. The goal of the league is to develop more well-rounded and competitive swimmers and provide an opportunity for all swimmers to compete. The league consists of 18 local teams. All Wahoo team members are eligible to compete in developmental meets, which are not scored. These Monday evening meets are known as “B Meets.” There are some event restrictions that encourage swimmers to develop their strokes and try new events. See the “Meets” section for more information. Coaches will work with swimmers to determine which events they will swim each week. Developmental Meets are a great way to try new events and see friends from the neighborhood.
