Parent Code of Conduct

  1. I will be positive. I will set an example for our children by demonstrating sportsmanship and showing respect and common courtesy at all times to the team members, coaches, competitors, officials, parents, and all facilities. I will work with all to the best of my ability.
  2. I will be friendly to the other team’s parents and spectators. We all may be teammates one day.
  3. I will limit my comments to positive reinforcement and encouragement to my child and I will not coach my child from the stands during meets nor from the deck during practices.
  4. Parents will remember that swimming is for the children not the adults. Enjoyment of swimming is more important than our own expectations of their performance. Be gracious in victory, and gracious in defeat.
  5. I will not be present on deck during practice or meets, unless I am working the meet.
  6. The Team Rep and Head Coach are available after training and meets for feedback or to discuss questions about disqualifications, event placement, etc.
  7. If my child develops any behavior-related problem that repeatedly disrupts practices and/or meets, I promise to work with my child’s coach or the swim/dive rep to resolve the problem. If I have a concern, I will address it privately and respectfully to the coach.
  8. I will not speak harshly to any child or coach nor about any child or coach. Please contact the Head Coach and Team Reps if you have an issue with another parent’s child.
  9. I will support the coaches working with my son/daughter in order to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all by ensuring swimmers arrive and leave on time and bring proper equipment.
  10. I will not engage in physical or verbal confrontations with coaches and swim/dive reps. This includes emails, texting, phone conversations and social networking sites, nor use confidential contact information without proper permission from the swim or dive rep.
  11. I will give the coaches the courtesy of notifying them if my child cannot attend a meet so that the coach can give the swim opportunity to another swimmer – understanding that my child is only one of many on the team. I will work within the Coaches and Team Reps deadlines about meet attendance and about Divisional events.
  12. I will volunteer at each meet that my child is participating in either: concessions, set up, take down, and/or any deck positions. I will work with all to the best of my ability to help run operations of the Team smoothly and positively.
