The Walden Glen Winter Swim program is a once-a-week swim practice open to all Walden Glen pool youth but geared toward 12 & under swimmers who meet the following requirements.

Swimmers must be willing to:

• jump into water over their heads without hesitation
• happily put their faces into the water
• swim in any manner for at least 10 meters (the distance from the basketball end of WG to the ladder)

Swimmers must be assessed for readiness. If your swimmer did not compete in a 25-meter or 50-meter race during the 2026 summer swim season or participate in the 2026 Swim School Lollipop meet, we will be happy to conduct an evaluation to assess your child's readiness for Winter Swim.

Program Details

When: Saturdays, 4-5 pm, October 3, 2026 - May 22, 2027 (there is no practice 10/24, 11/28, 12/5, 12/12, 12/26, 1/2, 1/23, 3/27, 4/24)

Where: South Run ReCenter (7550 Reservation Drive, Springfield)

Practice Groups

Competitive Team (60 minutes) $375

In this level, swimmers 8&under must be able to complete a 25 m free and 25 m back and possess a general understanding of breaststroke and butterfly. Swimmers 9-12 must be able to complete a 50 m free and 50 m back and possess a general understanding of breaststroke and butterfly.

Mini Wahoos (45 minutes) $375

In this level, swimmers 8&under must be able to complete 25 meters without stopping in a manner that resembles freestyle and with their faces in the water.

Swim School (25 minutes) $250

In this level, swimmers 8&under must be willing to jump into water above their head and put their faces into the water while moving about 10 meters.

The Mini Wahoos and Swim School levels will benefit from smaller groups and fewer (but more concentrated) minutes in the water.
