Practice Times
GENERAL SWIM PRACTICE INFO
The competitive team and Mini Wahoos practice Monday through Friday, starting on the Tuesday after Memorial Day. Practice times are in the afternoon until Fairfax County Public Schools release; at that point, practice times shift to the morning.
If you are interested in the competitive team but cannot come to morning practice due to work/childcare schedules, please see our Evening Swim Practice option below for swimmers 10 and under.

Swimmers who qualify for the Division Championship Meet will continue practice through July 24.
Swimmers who qualify for the All Star Individual Championship Meet will continue practice through July 31.
During morning practices, the pool is not open. Parents and siblings not in the practice should sit in the pavilion or the grassy area. If you have comments or questions for the coaches, please wait until after practice is finished.
EVENING SWIM PRACTICE
For families with swimmers who cannot attend morning practices because of work/childcare conflicts, Walden Glen will offer a limited opportunity for evening swim practices. Swimmers must be age 10 & under and be able to swim at least 25 meter free and 25 meter back.
Swimmers registered for Evening Swim should attend after school practices from May 26-June 16 where they will swim with their teammates.
Evening swim will begin on June 23 after FCPS ends for the summer break and offer three practices per week, 5:30-6:30 pm, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. There will be no practice July 8 due to the Division Relay Carnival.
If the pool is open, we will hold evening swim. If weather is bad, stay alert to possible announcements regarding pool closures. It is not possible to make up practices canceled because of bad weather.

Evening Swim does not provide as many practices as the morning schedule, and because it occurs during regular pool hours, there is less space available, so space is limited. The morning swim practices will provide a better opportunity for a swimmer’s development. However, we are happy to offer Evening Swim for families who would otherwise not be able to participate in the team.
Swimmers in Evening Swim are full members of the Walden Glen Swim Team and are welcome to compete in the swim meets for which they qualify.
Additional Evening Swim Information:
- Swimmers in Evening Swim are welcome to attend regular morning practices when they’re able - but swimmers are not permitted to attend both morning and evening practices on the same day.
- Swimmers in the morning program who have a conflict that results in a missed morning practice cannot attend evening practices due to space restrictions during pool operating hours.
- The fee for Evening Swim is the same as the regular team fees.
If you are interested, please contact the Team Reps before registering as space is limited. Swimmers who do not already have a time in 25 freestyle and 25 backstroke may need to complete an evaluation to ensure the program will be a good fit. Swimmers not ready yet will be invited to participate in Swim School which will be held at the same time in a different part of the pool.
